How to Unlock and Start the Quest

This side mission becomes available after you progress through the main story up to a specific house-exclusive quest line. Depending on your chosen Hogwarts house, you will discover a mysterious map in different locations, such as the Owlery or the graveyard. Once you pick up the map showing a forest, a bridge, and floating candles, the tracking begins automatically.

Finding the Exact Map Location

The visual clues on the parchment point directly to the northern entrance of the Forbidden Forest fast travel point. Teleport or fly to the Forbidden Forest Floo Flame location to position yourself correctly for the next step of the puzzle. Ensure you wait until nightfall, as the hidden mechanism will not trigger during daylight hours.

Solving the Floating Candles Riddle

Stand on the stone bridge located just a short distance from the forest entrance and cast the Lumos spell. Casting Lumos causes a cluster of glowing, enchanted candles to materialize right in front of your character. Simply follow these floating guides as they float away from the path and lead you deeper into the dark woods.

Claiming Your Hidden Treasure Rewards

The candles will eventually stop drifting and hover directly over a beautifully arranged picnic spot deep within the trees. A hidden treasure chest will appear at this location, containing a unique cosmetic item to upgrade your collection. Opening this container successfully completes the side mission, adding valuable experience points to your character log.
